Greenville, S.C. Certain to make a measurable economic impact on the Upstate over the next half-decade by fueling the travel and tourism industry as well as generating donation dollars for crucial local charities, today South Carolinas Charities Inc., which operates the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation, announced a five-year contract extension concerning BMW Manufacturing, SYNNEX Corporation and the PGA TOUR.

“This is incredible news for all of our local businesses and the thousands of residents who value a thriving economy,” said Bob Nitto, President, South Carolina Charities, Inc. “From restaurants and hotels to the philanthropies we support that fulfill a wide spectrum of needs within our community, the five-year contract extension of our partnership will benefit everyone.”

It was also announced that the tournament will take place later beginning next year: June 3-9, 2019.

“We are thrilled to announce a five-year extension with the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation,” said Dan Glod, President, Tour. “This is a marquee event on the Tour schedule, and one that our fans and players look forward to each year.  We have fantastic partners in BMW Manufacturing and SYNNEX Corporation, and because of their commitment it’s nice to know that this event will continue to make a positive economic impact on the community for many years to come.”

With news of the extension also comes an opportunity for expanded worldwide coverage by Golf Channel. Currently broadcasting exclusively from Thornblade Club, live tournament coverage may now be extended to all three tournament courses.

“BMW Manufacturing is pleased that this extension means we are able to continue to display our strong commitment to the Upstate and South Carolina,” said Max Metcalf, Manager, Government & Community Relations, BMW Manufacturing, “We have supported this tournament for the past 17 years, and we look forward to continuing that unwavering dedication.”

The tournament draws an estimated 40,000 spectators, 20 percent of whom travel from out of town. This influx of guests equals over 3,500 room nights for Greenville-area hotels.

“SYNNEX Corporation is proud the extension enables us to continue being a key partner of a tournament that’s fully dedicated to putting the needs of our community first,” said Bob Stegner, Senior Vice President, Marketing, North America, SYNNEX Corporation and Board Member, South Carolina Charities, Inc. “In addition to supporting the vitality of our economy, this year that also means surpassing the $13 million mark in charitable giving to Upstate philanthropies.”
