Michael Arnaud Wins 2018 BMW Charity Pro-Am.

2018 winner of the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX holds BMW steering wheel trophy in a staged shot with tournament executives.

Jose Alvarez and Ozzie Smith top celebrity leaderboards +++ Doug Hickok and Jay McLuen win amateur divisions.

Greenville, S.C. Michael Arnaud from Beaumont, Texas, is the 2018 BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation tournament champion, earning $126,000 for the win. Arnaud was the last player to qualify for the tournament, making his victory particularly notable.

Arnaud finished the tournament at 27-under-par (69, 60, 65, 63), moving to number 13 on the Tour money list. The top 25 money leaders at the end of the regular season automatically earn playing status on the PGA TOUR for the 2018-2019 season.

Amateur Doug Hickok and his professional partner, son Kramer Hickok, won the X3 division of the Pro-Am portion of the tournament at 46-under-par. Amateur Joe Testino and his professional partner Jay McLuen won the X5 division at 54-under-par. Other amateurs competing in final round included, from the X3 division, Doug McGrath, Doug Cecil, Garth Warner and Matt Troka; in the X5 division Wes Bradshaw, Billy Rogers, Jay Robinson, Carl Sobocinski.

In the Pro-Celebrity division, former MLB player Jose Alvarez and his professional partner Jared Wolfe won the Pro-Celebrity X4 competition, scoring 44-under-par. Winning the X6 division was Ozzie Smith with the help of professional partner Patrick Sullivan, scoring 48-under-par. Other celebrities qualifying for Sunday play included: in the X4 division, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and actor Don Cheadle; in the X6 division, comedian Larry the Cable Guy and gold-medal Olympic curler John Shuster.

Anthony Anderson (actor, Black-ish), Brian Baumgartner (“Kevin”, The Office), Don Cheadle (Oscar-nominator actor), Larry the Cable Guy, Oliver Hudson (Nashville, Splitting Up Together), Chris Lane (country music artist), John O’Hurley (Seinfeld), Alfonso Riberio (America’s Funniest Home Videos), Aaron Rodgers (NFL), and Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts were among the 30-plus celebrities who competed. Major League Baseball (MLB) Hall of Fame inductees Jim Rice and Ozzie Smith as well as MLB’s Jose Alvarez, Josh Beckett and Tim Wakefield were joined by Olympic gold medal curlers Matt Hamilton and John Shuster. Andy Buckley (actor, The Office), Michael Collins (ESPN Sportscaster), Bill Engvall (comedian), Brian Grubb (wakeboarder),C. Thomas Howell (actor, The Outsiders), Dan Jansen (Gold Medal Olympian), Karen Jansen-Palaicio (Golf Channel Announcer), Ed Marinaro (actor, Hill Street Blues), Paige Mackenzie (Golf Channel), Ron Perlman (actor, Hellboy, Iron Man), Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals), Kevin Rahm (actor, Lethal Weapon), Rob Riggle (actor, The Daily Show), Richard Schiff (actor, West Wing), Sterling Sharpe (NFL), Paula Trickey (actress, Pacific Blue) and Cerina Vincent (actress, Stuck in the Middle) rounded out the list of noteworthy names.

Featured charities benefiting from this year’s tournament included: Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System, Cliffs Residents Outreach, Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and Upstate SC STEM Collaborative.

The tournament, which this week announced a five-year contract extension between BMW Manufacturing, SYNNEX Corporation and PGA TOUR, will return to the Upstate June 3-9, 2019.


The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation is the only tournament on the Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Tour professionals in a four-day better-ball competition over three courses. Amateurs, celebrities and pros rotate between three courses on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the 10 lowest scoring pro-amateur teams, six lowest scoring pro-celebrity teams and the lowest 65 pros (and ties) advancing to play Sunday’s final round at Thornblade Club.
