When it comes to tool planning, our responsibility encompasses the entire process of press tool production. Our main tasks include work planning and scheduling for the various tooling projects, the procurement of materials, purchased parts and services, and meeting cost calculations – including deadline and quality monitoring.

Liaising with developers and designers, our tool engineering team ensures BMW’s hallmark features can be realised in every car. We also develop reliable production concepts and methodologies to ensure the manufacturability of products.

In the design department, the press tools are designed using state-of-the-art software, with standard part integration and parts list generation being automated. The use of advanced simulation technology ensures collision-free and stable integration of the tools into the original presses.

IIn mechanical production, the surface of the press tool is shaped with an accuracy of up to a hundredth of a millimetre. State-of-the-art milling systems form a structured and interconnected milling centre, with innovative, cutting-edge production technologies enabling high-quality, efficient mechanical production.

At BMW Group Plant Eisenach, craftsmanship meets industrialisation. The highly digitalised and industrialised tooling department produces the sidewalls, roofs and bonnets of almost every BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce. The BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin benefits from Eisenach’s expertise and innovativeness too. The experienced hands of toolmakers are still very much in demand in press tool production.

The original production facility for sheet metal body parts has developed into an efficient parts production process for sophisticated small series. The Eisenach plant is the main supplier for the Rolls-Royce brand. Motorcycle tanks are manufactured here for BMW Motorrad and front fenders for the BMW M3, M4, M5 and M8.

To ensure our tools and sheet metal parts meet our discerning quality standards, employees carry out professional measurements using optical procedures and CNC technologies.

Logistics is crucial, not just for stable production but also for efficient transport handling within our plant and supplier network. Having the right quality and quantity of blanks and parts in the right place at the right time is one of many key tasks our logistics specialists take care of every day.
