Welcome to MINI plant Swindon.

A new automated steel pressing facility was opened in 2022 with the latest press-shop technology allowing the site to take its performance to the next level, as a vital member of BMW Group’s international production network.

Around 230 robots are used in the highly automated process of the door, bonnet and tailgate assemblies at MINI, including Tactile Laser Welding and Remote Laser Welding.

Press Shop two produces blanks and small and medium pressed parts. All MINI production presses are automated and equipped with the latest electronic control systems.

While Plant Swindon has already achieved many successes in terms of sustainable manufacturing, we know we’re still a long way from our destination. We’re committed to doing all we can to achieve our MINI sustainability goals in all areas, not just manufacturing. This environmentally conscious approach continues to drive us along our path to sustainable mobility.  

New PGA press
The new PGA press shop is utilising the latest technology. Servo technology means that through energy saving and recover, the energy usage has been halved. Using material handling units that are electric rath than running on gas, has dramatically reduced emissions. Even in the build phase, all waste concrete was utilised so that there is zero waste.
