Overview.

The BMW Crowd Innovation Platform enables innovators to tap into the swarm intelligence of internal and external innovation crowds.

The main feature of the platform is the idea management: new ideas and technical solutions for solving current and future problems can be submitted and managed.

We regularly launch challenges: calls for ideas across the BMW Group, focused on strategically relevant topics. Both internal and external innovation communities are invited to submit their ideas, while the entire crowd is encouraged to contribute and enrich them. Today, the platform connects a global community of around 45,000 registered users!

  • The crowd refines ideas through comments, votes, and shared expertise.
  • Experts evaluate and advance promising ideas to the appropriate decision-making committee.
  • Implementation teams can be staffed from the crowd based on needed skills.
  • Users can launch challenges for targeted solutions or search the idea database for matches.

Every innovation begins with an inspiring idea from the right person, supported by the right people to bring it to life. That’s exactly what we aim to facilitate through the Crowd Innovation Platform.

We believe that great ideas don’t come only from within, sometimes, the best solutions are found outside BMW Group. Collaboration is key to tackling big challenges, whether in mobility or beyond.

Quantum Computing Challenge

BMW Group’s Quantum Computing Challenge exemplifies the power of collaboration and innovation in tackling complex industrial problems. Partnering with AWS, the challenge encourages startups and researchers to develop and test quantum algorithms for high-impact areas such as optimization, materials research, and automated driving. This initiative demonstrates how leveraging quantum technologies can unlock new solutions and drive future advancements in the automotive industry.

All about the Metaverse

With the BMW Group Supplierthon 2023 we made an important contribution to In-Car metaverse activities within the BMW Group, scouting for the best partners worldwide and finding new Metaverse-related ideas and solutions. Suppliers were invited to develop innovative, forward-thinking ideas to explore how to merge the physical and digital worlds by preparing our vehicles for future demands and creating an exciting, immersive in-car experience for our customers.
