Plant Steyr

PERFECTION AND PASSION.

HELP US DRIVE THE MOBILITY OF THE FUTURE.

BMW Group Plant Steyr was founded in 1979 and has since become the company’s largest engine plant worldwide and the diesel centre of competence for the entire BMW Group.

Roughly 4,500 employees produce over 1 million engines and more than 10 million engine components per year. At peak times, up to 5,500 engines come off the assembly lines every working day – that’s an average of one every 12 seconds.

Driving mobility.

The range of engines produced includes three, four and six-cylinder diesel and petrol engines. In addition, our plant already builds on third of all BMW Group hybrid engines. The new housings for the future generation of our electric drive trains will also be produced in Steyr.
