BMW Motorrad supplies 35 specialist motorcycles to Berlin police.
On 13 May 2020, Helmut Schramm, Director of BMW Group Plant Berlin, presented 35 special bikes to the Berlin police. The BMW R 1250 RT motorcycles were handed over to Chief of Police, Barbara Slowik. Interior Senator Andreas Geisel was among those attending the event at Tempelhofer Feld.
BMW Motorrad has long been a partner of the Berlin police, most recently presenting a total of 20 new bikes to their motorcycle unit, in 2012. Authority bikes are manufactured at BMW Group Plant Berlin, in the Spandau area of the city, where they are also fitted with all the special equipment required for police use.
“We are proud to provide the Berlin police with bikes made at our Spandau plant again,” said Plant Director Helmut Schramm. “At BMW Motorrad, quality, reliability and versatility are our top priorities, so we’re very pleased indeed that the police trust us to deliver all three in the purpose-built bikes we have made for them.”
Chief of Police Barbara Slowik said at the handover: “A purchase like this is a key investment for me, not only in the safety of our city but also – and most importantly – in the safety of my colleagues.”
