SHINING A LIGHT ON DIVERSITY.
26 May was Diversity Day in Germany — an opportunity for companies and institutions to highlight their commitment to diversity in the workplace. As a signatory and promoter of the Diversity Charter, the BMW Group staged a variety of activities around the topic, because in a diverse team, the wide range of perspectives and experiences members contribute make it one thing in particular: more effective and innovative.
Diversity is also a big topic at BMW Group Plant Berlin, where the workforce is made up of some 20 different nationalities. The plant aims to achieve the most even gender balance possible, and with associates ranging from 16 to 66 years, it already works with a broad age range.
In addition, a number of associates bring valuable overseas experience to the table, having previously worked on assignments in the BMW Group production network. Five of them reported in detail on the professional and personal challenges and insights from their stays abroad, in an online conference on Diversity Day.
Associates were invited to test their knowledge of diversity and learn something new in the Diversity Charter quiz.
